You can select the strength that you desire by pressing the BREW STRENGTH button. At the pre-set time, the green BREW NOW light will turn on and the DELAY BREW yellow light will turn off, indicating the brewing has started in the selected brew strength. The coffeemaker warmer plate will keep your coffee hot for 2 hours and then automatically turn off. As a safety feature, your coffeemaker will NOT start again automatically the next day. If you want your coffee to brew at the same time the following day, simply add a new filter, coffee and water and set DELAY BREW, by repeating Steps 2 and 3 above. The FRESH BREW TIMER feature displays the time since the coffee brewing cycle started. If you are unable to find a replacement, please visit us online at www. When brewing is complete, turn your coffeemaker off, discard the water in the decanter and rinse the decanter, decanter lid, and filter basket. FIGURE 1 NOTE: Pressing any button before setting the clock will cause the clock to start keeping time from 12:00 a. While the display is in the clock mode, simply press the SET DELAY button (Figure 3) and, while the DELAY BREW yellow light is flashing, set the brew time by pressing the HOUR and MINUTE buttons (Figure 4). The display will show the time you have programmed the coffee to brew. If you press the SET DELAY button again or wait a few seconds, the display will switch back. For best results, use a level tablespoon for ground coffee measurement. This carbon-based water filter improves the taste of your coffee by removing up to 97% of the chlorine from the water you may use to brew your coffee. To turn the coffeemaker off, press the SELECT button until all lights turn off. You must first set the time for when you would like the coffeemaker to begin brewing your coffee as described in Setting the Clock and the Delay Brew Timer section. To activate DELAY BREW and program your coffeemaker to brew coffee at a later time, press the SELECT button twice (Figure 9). The coffeemaker is now set to automatically brew coffee at the pre-set later time.

The coffeemaker's double-wall stainless-steel thermal carafe keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours, and its Fresh Brew timer displays how much time has passed since the last brew. Choose from the two-hour auto shut-off function, which keeps coffee warm for two hours before automatically shutting off, or the safety auto shut-off function, which turns the coffeemaker off after the brew cycle is complete. Other highlights include a removable filter basket for convenient filling and cleaning, water filtration that removes up to 97-percent of chlorine for better tasting coffee, and a special cleaning cycle for fast cleanup.Videos for related products 2:54 Click to play video Hario Technica 5-Cup Glass Syphon Coffee Maker Merchant Video Next page Upload your video Video Customer Review: Top 10 Best Smart Coffee Makers for Coffee Lover See full review Top 10 Zone Onsite Associates Program To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Forest 1.0 out of 5 stars You'll be doing a lot of wiping up all the time. The worst thing about this coffee maker is that the pour spout dribbles all over the place no matter how carefully you try to pour it. I've tried pouring slow, fast, with the lid, without it. Nothing helps. So expect that after every cup you'll need to wipe up the countertop. Also, the lid to the compartment where you add the cold water before brewing is awkwardly placed so you'll end up getting water on the top of the maker when you fill it up. Then you lift the other section to add the coffee and all that water goes dripping off the back. Other things I don't like about this maker: The button on the pot lid that you press to pour your coffee is hard to press and at an uncomfortable angle.

The fresh brew timer helpfully lets you know how long it's been since your coffee was brewed. For the thermal carafe, it's a bit hard to pour out the absolute last drop - you may have to remove the lid to really empty it.Click here for more details. The main feature I wanted on this was the thermal carafe so I could take it out and enjoy coffee on the deck in the mornings. It was just what I wanted for a while. Note that this coffee maker is used at a second residence and does not see near the use my day-to-day coffee maker does (which is a Cuisinart that has been great - not thermal though). The first signs of trouble about 4 months in were a couple of times it overflowed all over the counter while brewing. Since I had purchased a gold filter to eliminate paper, I had to pull it out each time to clean. No worries, I just ensured I seated it correctly and it was fine. I would press start and it began brewing as normal. But when I came back later it had stopped before completing. It would require me to press start again (sometimes multiple times) and it would eventually make a full pot. That sealed it's fate as a landfill object (too late to return and I was not about to waste money on repairs). It was a great concept but failed to endure relatively light usage. I was very disappointed and am now looking for a replacement thermal coffee maker. With absolutely no coding knowledge, anyone can create a stunning website using Jimdo's drag-and-drop interface. Or cooler? Or is pumped thru at a different rate. I'm really interested in your comments. I don't have a bunch of cash to spend, but if you folks think a better deal is out there than this one, please share. I've been a long time browser of this forum and have learned a great deal about what I should be looking for, but some of those specifications won't fit into my wallet. Thanks!

I don't even have arthritis and it makes my thumb hurt. If you have arthritis, forget it. The coffee also comes out really slowly with the lid on so, out of impatience, I often end up removing the lid to pour the coffee. Unfortunately, doing so just makes the dribble problem even worse. The coffee is never very hot. It says it's a 10 cup capacity but it really only makes about 8 cups. Not sure if that's because the measurement is wrong or because it loses that much water from evaporation during brewing. In any case, you'll need to make a cup or two more than you think in order to get the right amount. So after just one month of using this coffee maker I'm in the market for a new and better one. This one is overpriced for as poorly designed as it is. I've had better coffee makers at half the price.I was surprised by all the bad reviews. I think it's a great pot of coffee. Here is the rundown. GOOD: Easy to program. A real no-brainer. One button to set timer, one button to start. Also a strength button, which I don't really use. Good hot coffee. I have never had to warm up the carafe and my coffee is plenty hot. Insulated carafe means no hotplate to burn your coffee and warm up your house. Carafe can just go in the dishwasher. Easy 'clean' function keeps the funk out. BAD: The lid on the carafe has lots of little nooks, cranies and holes that get filled with coffee and are hard to clean. The annoying loud beep when the coffee is done. What idiot thought that up. The last thing I want at 5AM is my coffee maker beeping (LOUDLY) at me. Push button lid. Now, I don't think it takes any effort to push the button, but it seems to confuse my guests. Every insulated carafe I have ever used (even at IHOP) has a push button, so I don't know why it's so difficult for them. Anyway, I really do love this coffee maker and I have never had a problem with cold coffee, water all over my counter or the clock not functioning.

We are now using the good lid and will keep the other for extra gaskets. Thanks again. I will definitely use e-Replacement Parts again. Quick delivery also.

MoreGooder I can't answer your main question about the brew strength of the Mr. Coffee FTTX85. One thing that's important to know when buying a drip machine is that coffee taste is best when the brew water is about 200 degrees F. As far as I know, none of the machines you see in stores meet that standard. They tend to brew at about 185 degrees. If you're concerned about too much chlorine, you could either let your water sit out for about 10 minutes until the chlorine evaporates, or you could get a Brita pitcher. That's what I use for my espresso machine, and it's worked fine. Another option to check out is French press and invest in a good grinder. But that's another issue.I've read the reviews of the Technivorms, and I already lust after them. The only problem I have with their design is that the delivery of the hot water to the grounds doesn't fully encompass the grounds. Yes, they have that marginally exceptable 9 hole replacement head, but I think they could do better. That's why I want to know what the brew strength button really does. I bet you're right, though, in assuming that the water still reaches the grounds at about 185F. It probably pumps the water through faster. But then again, isn't that part of the equation. Speed and temp both play a roll, right. If the water is delivered too slowly, then you get the bitterness of the grounds. If the water is delivered quickly, it might be weaker, but you still have the desirable notes of the coffee sans bitterness. Too weak then? Just use more coffee. MoreGooder Yes, they have that marginally exceptable 9 hole replacement head, but I think they could do better. Posted November 6, 2005 link This is not true. Having both the single and 9 hole pipe, they both saturate the grounds fine. I and others on Coffeegeek find no difference between the two pipes. Check out: click here As of August, all TV's come with the 9 hole pipe. Read what Tom said about that the single-hole pipe doing a good job.

The TV may end up being your very last coffeemaker. The Presto Scandi is another good coffeemaker to consider, although not constructed as well as the TV's. Gerry My KitchenAid Clasic had a brew strength knob. After some experimentation, I discovered that as it was turned away from the strongest setting, an increasing amount of water was channeled down a recess in the back of the filter housing, thereby bypassing the grounds completely. Needless to say, we never moved it away from the strongest setting. I'm seriously thinking about the Technivorm KBTS (thermal carafe version), but I read a review here that suggested that the construction was low quality. I haven't seen any other reviews than that one. Then again, the coffee maker I have right now is pretty cheaply made so, I can't imagine this Technivorm product being a step down. I'm saving my pennies for this thing. It's gonna take a while though. Thanks again, MoreGooder No SEO style postings will be tolerated. SEO related posts will result in immediate ban from CoffeeGeek.
